Sterile Side of Double Door Autoclave

Pass Through Autoclave

View from sterile side

View from non-sterile side

Equipped with the same state-of-the-art technology as our V&D series autoclave units, the D2D has the same modern design but now with a double door pass through for fitting between separating walls. The autoclave units are specially designed for gas-tight fitting to separating walls. The installation area comprising all technical components is located on the external, non-sterile side with a natural environment. Operation, however, can be carried out from both sides, the position (open or closed) of the opposite door being indicated on the display.

For use under the most stringent clean room and safety conditions:

-For biological safety laboratories. Fitting as a sterilization and double-door (pass-through) lock for protecting the external environment

-For clean rooms in laboratories and production facilities as a sterilization and double-door lock separating sterile and non-sterile areas.

Triple Safety Aspects!
-Only one door can be opened at a time. If one door is open, the other is automatically locked. (Images with both doors open are for demonstration and display purposes only)

-If the autoclave is switched off or if no current is available (power failure) both doors remain locked.

-If the door at the non-sterile side is opened, a sterilization program has to be run before the door at the sterile side can be opened.

The locking system can be adapted to customer's preferences. Doors and control panel are made of heat-insulating plastic, the housing completely of stainless steel and the edges chamfered for smooth junctions with walls.

Pass Through Autoclave - Side View

Equipped with the same state-of-the-art technology as our V&D series autoclave units, the D2D has the same modern design but now with two doors for fitting between separating walls.

Features:
Innovative automatic safety door lock.

Easy and safe. When the lid is closed, the lid is automatically locked by a circumferential ring system. A special lip seal made of heat resistant silicone provides reliable sealing. As steam pressure builds the seal becomes tighter. The lid also opens easily – either at the push of a button or automatically at the end of a sterilization cycle.
The door-locking system is temperature dependent and adheres to national and international safety standards. The door remains locked as long as there is excess pressure in the chamber. The lid, like other parts of the pressure vessel and housing, is made of stainless steel. The modern design faceplate, which also contains the control panel, display and part of the control technology, is made of heat resistant and insulated plastic. There is no risk of the operator coming into contact with hot components.

Pressure-safe up to 5 bar/150 °C.
Tomorrow’s process requirements are addressed in today’s design!
The Systec D2D-Series double door (pass through) autoclave units are the first of its kind to be designed for higher pressures and temperatures. The standard pressure chamber is designed for 5 bar/150 °C. If the expanded pressure and temperature model is selected as an option, all control and safety components are adapted to the
higher temperature and pressure. This option may be retrofitted to existing D2D- series autoclaves.

Systec D2D-Series autoclaves are equipped direct from the factory for sterilization
temperatures up to 140 °C and 4 bar of pressure.

Controls – New Generation - Microprocessor and Software
The Systec D2D-Series autoclaves have “comprehensive intelligence”: Pressure is controlled via an electronic pressure transducer. Additionally, there is a flexible temperature sensor in the sterilization chamber or in a reference vessel (for liquids) and another sensor at the coldest part of the chamber, the condensate outlet. The microprocessor, specially developed for our laboratory autoclave, controls all relevant functions such as steam pressure, temperature and sterilization time as well as optional rapid cooling, pre / post-vacuum and drying.

Design – pure innovation!

Steam generation!
A steam generator is incorporated in the housing providing substantial benefits:

– No heating elements and no reservoir for dirty water in the chamber
– With stand-by pre-heating option, only 10 min. heating time to 121° C with an empty chamber
– Improved removal of air from the empty chamber via pulsed heating (rapid attainment of optimal steam atmosphere, even without a vacuum)
– Accuracy better than ± 0.5 C with empty chamber
– Quicker cooling as neither hot water in the chamber nor the separate steam generator need be cooled
– After cooling, steam is immediately available for the next sterilization run.

Autoclave Steam Generator
Further standard features:
– Flexible temperature sensor PT-100 for a reference vessel
– Medium temperature triggering of sterilization time
– Autofill – automatic filling with demineralized water feed for steam generation
– Start by clock – timer for programming starting time
– Collecting point for all outlet pipes
– Venting valve
– Baseplate in the chamber for vessels, baskets etc.
– Validation port

Condensation instead of steam removal!
Exhaust steam is condensed automatically via a PT 100-regulated cooling system. This prevents odors and protects waste water piping.
Quality materials quality manufacturing!
The pressure vessel is made of corrosion-resistant electro-polished stainless steel 1.4571 (V4A) AISI 316 Ti and therefore very easy to clean. Autoclave framework and housing are also made of stainless steel. The highly efficient, high-quality Hanno-Tect insulation material releases no particles and therefore the Systec D2D-Series double door (pass through) autoclave is ideal for use in clean room environments.

Autoclave Cooling Options

For liquid cycles all Systec double door (pass through) autoclave units directly measure the temperature of the liquid being sterilized, NOT chamber temperature like most autoclave units. Once liquids have been heated to 121oC and sterilized they must be cooled to a safe temperature before allowing operator access to the chamber.

The longest part of the sterilization cycle for liquids is the cool down phase (see graph below). Systec Double Door (Pass Through) Autoclave units offer three cooling options that can significantly reduce the cooling time for liquids after sterilization is complete. Faster cool down times allow for increased throughput and faster availability of liquids after sterilization.

The graph below represents the cool down phase for liquids in an autoclave with no cooling options installed. In this case cooling occurs via evaporation and takes 120 minutes to reach 80oC.

Autoclave Standard Cooling Graph

Level 1 - Cooling coils with support air pressure.

Level 1 cooling provides a coil wrapped around the outside of the sterilization vessel. During the cooling phase cool water circulates through the coils reducing cool down time (see graph). Support pressure eliminates evaporative loss of the sterilized liquids during cooling.
Double Door Autoclave - Cooling Level 1 Autoclave Cooling Level 1 - Coils

Level 2 - Cooling coils with support air pressure and radial ventilator.

Level 2 cooling provides the benefits of Level 1 cooling with the addition of a radial ventilator for air circulation and accelerated heat removal from the liquids (see graph). Support pressure eliminates evaporative loss from the liquids during cooling.

Level 3 - Cooling coils with support air pressure, radial ventilator and UltraCool.

Level 3 is our fastest cool down option. In addition to cooling coils and radial ventilator UltraCool incoporates a special cooling coil below the radial ventilator reducing cool down times by 50% (see graph) compared to level 2 cooling. As with the other cooling options support pressure eliminates evaporative loss from liquids during cooling.

Vacuum System - Required for Superdry option, but also allows for fractionated pre-vacuum. Useful for sterilization of waste bags, porous materials, hollow items and textiles.
"Superdry" provides efficient drying of solids, hollow items (ie. pipette tips) and porous items (ie. filters and textiles).

Double Door Autoclave - Superdry

Installed steam generator supplies heat to coils that surround sterilization vessel. Rapid surface drying occurs due to the heat and the chamber being under a vacuum.

Air Exhaust Filtration - the exhaust air is filtered via an autoclavable sterile filter. Neither aerosoles nor microorganisms can escape before the sterilization process is complete
